The Colleen Rothschild Products I Swear By for Aging, Acne-Prone Skin
I I share a lot of skincare, but there are a few products I come back to over and over again.
Colleen Rothschild has become one of those brands for me.
My skin has changed a lot as I've gotten older. I'm still extremely acne-prone. I deal with melasma. And now, as I get closer to 40, I'm paying a lot more attention to hydration, fine lines, brightness and texture.
One of the biggest changes I've made to my beauty routine has been focusing more on skin prep and less on makeup.
The better my actual skin looks and feels, the less makeup I want to wear.
And honestly? My skin has never looked better.
So if you've seen me talk about Colleen Rothschild on Instagram and wondered what I use or which products are worth trying, these are my favorites.
Quick heads up: My code NICKI20 gets you 20% off when there isn't a better Colleen Rothschild promotion running. They regularly have great sitewide sales, so always use whichever offer gets you the best price.
If you're only going to try one Colleen Rothschild product because of me, start here.
I will never shut up about this eye cream.
As I've gotten older, my under-eye area has become one of the places where I notice changes in my skin the most.
If I don't sleep well, have a couple of drinks the night before or I'm dehydrated, I see it immediately. My eyes get puffy, my dark circles become more noticeable and everything looks a little tired.
Traditional concealer has also become harder for me to wear. Too much of it settles into my fine lines and sometimes makes my under-eye area look drier and older.
This has basically replaced concealer for me most days.
The Tinted Illuminating Eye Cream contains caffeine and niacinamide, and it has the prettiest subtle pink tint.
So while I'm using it as skincare, the tint also helps brighten the appearance of my under-eyes.
I usually apply a tiny amount after my skincare and SPF and then put my skin tint right over it.
And when I say tiny, I mean TINY.
One bottle lasts me forever, which also makes the price much easier to justify.
If your under-eye concerns are puffiness, dryness, dark circles or simply looking exhausted even when you aren't, this is where I'd start.
We hear all the time about using retinol on our faces, but the skin around our eyes is much more delicate.
That's why I started using a retinol product specifically formulated for my eye area.
I've been using the Colleen Rothschild Retinol Supreme Eye Serum at night, particularly because I wanted to focus on the crepey texture and fine lines I was starting to notice around my eyes.
You need the smallest amount.
I apply a little around my under-eye and outer eye area at night and let it do its thing.
This has become the nighttime counterpart to the Tinted Illuminating Eye Cream I use during the day.
My routine is pretty simple:
Morning: Tinted Illuminating Eye Cream
Night: Retinol Supreme Eye Serum
I don't want a 47-step skincare routine. I want products I'll consistently use and repurchase.
These two have stayed in my routine.
These completely changed my skin.
Seriously.
If you're acne-prone like me, this is the other Colleen Rothschild product I talk about constantly.
I have the fun combination of still dealing with breakouts while also dealing with melasma, texture and aging skin.
Love that for me.
So I'm always looking for products that work with the skin concerns I have now, rather than treating my skin like I'm still 22.
The Glycolic Acid Peel Pads have become one of my regular reorders.
I especially reach for them when I'm dealing with breakouts or when my skin starts looking dull and uneven.
I realized how much I loved them when I started getting close to the bottom of the container and immediately ordered another one because I didn't want to run out.
That's usually my test for whether a skincare product has earned a permanent spot in my bathroom.
If I'm spending my own money to replace it before it's gone, I love it.
WHY I'VE CHANGED THE WAY I APPROACH SKINCARE
For years, I thought much more about makeup.
Now I think about what goes underneath it.
Hydration.
Brightness.
Texture.
Breakouts.
Fine lines.
SPF.
And the more I've focused on taking care of my skin, the less makeup I've wanted to wear.
I'm approaching 40. I'm not trying to make my skin look 20.
I want my skin to look healthy, hydrated and fresh at the age I am now.
I also want to get ready quickly.
I'm a mom. I'm working. I'm running kids everywhere. Some mornings I have plenty of time to get ready, and some mornings I'm doing skincare while trying to get everyone out the door.
The products that stay in my routine need to work with my actual life.
These do.
